AI interview tools compared: table comparing price, free option, what it actually measures for Yoodli, interviewing.io, Final Round AI, Teal InterviewAI, Pramp by Exponent, Exponent and Big Interview

Which AI tool is best for interview preparation in 2026?

Yoodli is the best AI tool for interview preparation for most candidates — a free tier of five lifetime roleplays, then about $8 a month billed annually. Google Interview Warmup, the free default for years, shut down in April 2026. For technical rounds, interviewing.io’s free AI Interviewer is the better starting point. For every category side by side, see our full AI tools list.

How this comparison works: prices and product status were re-checked against vendor pages and review round-ups in September 2026. Where sources disagree on a figure it is given as a range. No tool here was tested by us against a hiring outcome, and any site claiming a measured interview pass-rate uplift should be asked for the sample size.

The free default disappeared in April 2026

Most listicles on this query still recommend Google Interview Warmup. It no longer exists. Google launched it in 2022 under Grow with Google, it was free, browser-based and needed no login, and it was retired in April 2026 with no announcement beyond a line about “a little spring cleaning”. The original URL now redirects to a general interview article, and Google has pointed people to Gemini Live instead without announcing a direct replacement.

That matters for your job search because the obvious no-cost option is gone, and the three tools that filled the gap work differently: Teal InterviewAI for job-description-specific behavioural questions, Yoodli’s free tier for delivery feedback, and Pramp’s free credits for peer technical mocks.

It also changes what “free” means. Warmup was unlimited and permanently free; the replacements ration access instead. Yoodli’s Starter tier is five lifetime sessions, not five a month, so it runs out in an afternoon. Pramp resets five credits monthly but each one costs you the time to interview someone else first. Teal is the only one of the three that is free in the way Warmup was, and it covers behavioural questions only. Budget your free sessions for the week you actually have an interview booked, not for browsing.

The seven tools, one by one

    Yoodli

Speech coaching for interview delivery. The free Starter tier gives five lifetime roleplays, and Yoodli counts any practice session over 30 seconds as a roleplay, so treat it as a trial rather than an ongoing free plan. Yoodli’s pricing page lists Pro at $8 per month billed annually for up to ten roleplays a week, and Advanced at $20 per month billed annually for unlimited sessions (checked 6 September 2026). Feedback focuses on filler words, pace and clarity, which is the one dimension of an interview that can genuinely be measured rather than guessed at.

One detail worth knowing before you rehearse anything confidential: Yoodli excludes roleplay data from AI training by default only on the Advanced, Team and Enterprise plans. On the free Starter and the $8 Pro tier, session data may be used to improve the platform. If you are practising answers that name an unannounced product or an employer you have not resigned from, that is the difference between the two cheapest tiers that actually matters.

    interviewing.io

interviewing.io runs a free AI Interviewer for practice, with mock interviews from working engineers starting at $179 a session; company-specific interviewers run roughly $225 to $300 and FAANG-branded sessions as high as $339, per third-party trackers — the site publishes no pricing page. The strongest option for technical rounds because the feedback comes from a human who does the real thing.

    Final Round AI

Final Round AI added a free plan since our last check: unlimited goals, job-description parsing and the desktop app, but no live Interview CoPilot sessions. The $25 a month figure applies only when you prepay a year, about $300; third-party checks in late September 2026 put month-to-month billing at around $150 and a quarterly plan at $250. Final Round’s own page would not load for us on 11 October 2026, so confirm at checkout. There is no free trial of the live feature. That live real-time assistance during a real call is the thing to think hardest about before using.

    Teal InterviewAI

Free behavioural practice that generates questions from a specific job description rather than a generic bank. The closest free replacement for what Google Interview Warmup used to do, and the sensible first stop if you are not paying for anything yet.

    Pramp by Exponent

Peer-to-peer technical mock interviews, run by Pramp under Exponent. Once the default free option, now capped at five credits a month on free accounts. You interview someone else, then they interview you, so quality depends entirely on who you are matched with.

    Exponent

Structured courses plus practice for product management, data and engineering interviews, listed from around $12 per month on an annual plan with month-to-month billing reported far higher, at about $79 (its pricing page would not load for us on 11 October 2026). Curriculum first, practice second.

    Big Interview

Curriculum-led behavioural practice with a written course alongside the mock questions, an interview simulator and AI delivery feedback. Pricing is tiered by how long you need access rather than by feature: Big Interview’s personal pricing page lists Interview BootCamp at $39 for a 30-day subscription, Interview Accelerator at $99 for three months, and Interview Pro at $299 as a one-off fee for lifetime access, with a 30-day money-back guarantee (checked 6 September 2026). It suits people who want to be taught a framework rather than handed a scorecard, and the three-month tier is the honest match for most job searches.

How to pick in five minutes

    • You ramble or fill pauses. Yoodli. Delivery is the one thing these tools genuinely quantify.
    • You freeze on technical questions. interviewing.io, free AI Interviewer first, then pay for one human session before a real onsite.
    • You have a specific job description in hand. Teal InterviewAI, because generic question banks waste the preparation time you have.
    • You do not know the format yet. Exponent or Big Interview, both curriculum-led.
    • You want live help during the interview itself. Final Round AI does this. Check your employer’s and the platform’s rules first — several companies now treat it as grounds to withdraw an offer.

The employer side of the same question

If you are buying rather than practising, the constraints are different. Tools that screen or score candidates are regulated: the EU AI Act treats recruitment AI as high risk, and NYC Local Law 144 requires an independent bias audit within the previous year plus notice to applicants. Candidate-side practice tools sit outside both. Our guides to AI tools for HR and AI tools for recruiters cover that side.

For the rest of the application, an AI resume builder and an AI cover letter generator handle the paperwork that gets you to the interview in the first place, and our wider roundup of AI tools for job seekers covers the tracking and outreach layer around both.

Worth being clear about the limits of everything on this list. None of these tools knows the interviewer, the team’s actual bar, or the two questions the hiring manager always asks. They score the parts of an interview that generalise — structure, pace, filler words, whether an answer has a result in it — and stay silent on the parts that decide the outcome. Used as a rehearsal room they are cheap and useful; used as a predictor of whether you will get the offer, they are worth nothing, and no vendor here publishes a pass-rate figure with a sample size attached.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Which AI tool is best for interview preparation?

Yoodli for delivery, interviewing.io for technical rounds, and Teal InterviewAI if you want free. There is no single winner because interviews test two separate things: what you say, and how you say it. Yoodli scores delivery; interviewing.io tests substance against a working engineer. Pair one of each rather than paying for one tool twice.

Are AI interview preparation tools compliant with the EU AI Act and NYC Local Law 144?

Compliance sits with the employer, not the vendor. The EU AI Act classes AI used in recruitment and candidate evaluation as high risk, which brings documentation, human oversight and transparency duties. NYC Local Law 144 requires an independent bias audit within the previous year for automated employment decision tools used on New York City candidates, plus notice to applicants. Candidate-side practice tools such as Yoodli fall outside both, because no hiring decision is being made.

How do you audit AI interview preparation tools for bias?

An independent auditor compares selection rates across demographic groups using the employer’s own historical data, calculates impact ratios for sex and race or ethnicity categories, and publishes a summary. Under NYC Local Law 144 that audit must be no more than a year old and posted publicly. Ask a vendor for the audit itself, not a compliance badge, and check the date on it.

Do AI interview preparation tools integrate with existing HRIS platforms?

Most employer-side tools integrate with the applicant tracking system rather than the HRIS, since that is where candidate records live. Expect connectors for Workday, Greenhouse, Lever and SAP SuccessFactors on enterprise tiers, and CSV export or a REST API on cheaper plans. Candidate-side interview preparation tools generally integrate with nothing, which is a feature rather than a gap.

How much do AI interview preparation tools cost?

Free is a real option: Teal InterviewAI, Pramp’s five monthly credits and interviewing.io’s AI Interviewer all cost nothing. Paid tiers run from roughly $8 per month for Yoodli on annual billing, $12 for Exponent, $25 for Final Round AI on a yearly prepay (reported at about $150 month-to-month), which now sits above a free plan, and $39 for a 30-day pass on Big Interview, rising to $299 for its lifetime tier. Human mock interviews on interviewing.io start at $179 per session. The pattern is that delivery coaching is cheap and substance feedback is not, because substance feedback still needs a person.

    Conclusion

Start free. Teal InterviewAI covers behavioural questions against the actual job description, Yoodli’s five lifetime roleplays tell you within one session whether delivery is your problem, and interviewing.io’s AI Interviewer covers technical warm-up at no cost. Only pay once you know which of the two failure modes is yours.

If delivery is the gap, Yoodli at around $8 a month is the cheapest fix on this list. If substance is the gap, one $179 human session on interviewing.io before an onsite is worth more than a year of any subscription here.
