TechieHub is an independent publication covering AI tools, local model deployment, and the practical side of applied machine learning. We exist to answer one question well: does this actually work, on real hardware, under a licence you can live with?

    Who runs this site

TechieHub is written and edited by Hamza, a software engineer working professionally since 2022, who covers local and open-weight AI models — what runs on consumer hardware, at what VRAM floor, and under which licence. Writing software for a living is what makes the hardware and licensing side of this beat legible: the difference between a model that loads and a model that runs usably, and the difference between a licence that is called open and one that actually permits commercial use. He started TechieHub to answer the questions that vendor marketing and third-party summaries routinely get wrong, particularly around licensing. Several of the most widely recommended open-weight models are described elsewhere as permissively licensed when their actual terms carry revenue caps or territorial exclusions; checking those terms against the primary source, every time, is the work this site exists to do.

Editorial decisions — what gets covered, what gets recommended, what gets corrected — rest with Hamza. There is no outside party with approval rights over the rankings on this site.

    What we cover

    • Local and open-weight AI models — what runs on consumer GPUs, at what VRAM floor, under which licence
    • AI tooling comparisons — models, APIs, and platforms measured against stated criteria rather than vendor marketing
    • Applied AI workflows — automation, agents, and the practical wiring between them
    • Policy and licensing — the terms that decide whether you may actually ship what a model produces

How we decide what to recommend

Every comparison on this site declares its criteria before the verdict. Hardware requirements and licence terms are taken from the official repository or model card, not from third-party summaries — because those two figures are the ones most often repeated incorrectly.

Where a licence is more restrictive than its reputation suggests, we say so plainly. Several of the most-recommended open-weight models carry revenue caps or territorial exclusions that are routinely described as “Apache 2.0” elsewhere. Getting that right is most of the value we offer.

Our full standards — sourcing, corrections, how AI is used in production, and how we make money — are documented in our Editorial Policy.

    How we make money

TechieHub earns through affiliate commissions on some hardware and software links, and through display advertising. Neither influences rankings. No vendor has ever paid for placement, and we do not accept sponsored posts presented as editorial. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the pages where they apply.

    Corrections

The AI field moves fast enough that some of what is published here will become wrong. When it does, we fix it and note the change rather than quietly editing. If you have found an error — particularly a licence term, a VRAM figure, or a model version — write to contact@techiehub.blog and it will be checked.
